Camping

There are several different types of BSA camping programs available in Five Trails District: 

• Short-term camping 
  • Cub Scout Camping: This is usually a Pack or Den overnight family campout.
    Note: Campouts of this type require that a BALOO-trained Adult Leader be present at all times (in addition to the usual two-deep leadership requirements). 
  • Scous BSA Camping: This may consist of one-to-several night(s) campouts. 
  • Venturing Camping: This may consist of one-to-several night(s) campouts. 
• Long-term camping
  • Cub Scout Day Camp
    • Every June, Five Trails District offers Cub Scout Day Camp at Camp Wisdom.

    • Webelos resident camps are held every summer at Camp James Ray.

  • Boy Scout Summer Camps 
    
    • Circle Ten Council holds Summer Camp at its two long-term camp sites: 
      • Camp Trevor Rees-Jones, near Athens, TX
      • Camp Constantin and Jack Furst Aquatic Base, on Possum Kingdom Lake, near Graford, TX

    • Some Troops go to other summer camps. For a list of which Troop is attending which summer camp,

  • Scouts BSA Winter Camp
    Circle Ten Council holds Winter Camp at Camp Trevor Rees-Jones every winter.

• High Adventure Camping

These high-adventure opportunities are available only to older Scouts; the minimum age varies by venue. See the links below for details.

    National Jamborees are held every 4 years at Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia

    The next World Jamboree will be the US in 2019 at Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia.
