Youth Protection Training

Youth Protection Training (YPT) is required to register as an Adult Leader! Scouts may also be required to take YPT training in order to staff events where they staff long-term Scout events, such as:

  • Summer camp
  • Winter camp
  • Jamborees
  • Certain courses (e.g., NYLT)
  • And there may be other such events ....

Once you complete YPT, your YPT certificate is good for 2 years from the date of course completion.

  •  Online YPT is found HERE.
    • This requires a valid user ID/password for my.scouting.org.
      • You to not have to be registered with BSA in order to get a user ID/password and to take online YPT.
    • Note: This online YPT course was recently updated by BSA; it replaces all versions of online YPT courses previously available. It now consists of four modules:
      • YPT Overview and Policies
      • Sexual Abuse Prevention
      • Bullying Prevention
      • YPT Certification Test
    • It now takes about an hour to take this new, vastly-improved online YPT course.
      • See the *Note below for directions on how to print your YPT certificate.

*Note: Printing your YPT certificate is slightly more challenging than with the previous version of the online YPT courses. This section aims to alleviate that difficulty by supplying the steps to print your YPT certificate.
